How Did Borsa Istanbul Perform Today?
The BIST 100 index increased its volatility today following a terrorist attack targeting TAI (Turkish Aerospace Industries).
After recording a decline in the early hours of the day, the BIST 100 found support at the 8,730-point level. In the afternoon trading, the index recovered up to 8,856 points, but then sharply turned downward following the attack, falling to 8,664 points. As volatility continued in the last hour, the BIST 100 was moving in the 8,730-point range with a decline exceeding 1%.
On a sectoral basis, factoring, construction, and SMEs were the biggest losers today, while the technology and food sectors remained positive. Among the indices with the highest trading volume, the financial index dropped by 1.5%, while the industrial and service indices fell by around 1.2%. The stocks with the highest rises and falls in the BIST 100 today were as follows:
Defense industry stocks were on the rise, with the top five gainers approaching the close being:

The top five decliners were:
- HALKB
- BJKAS
- VESTL
- ARDYZ
- YEOTK
Across Borsa Istanbul, BAKAB, PEHOL, and ATEKS were the leading gainers, while SAFKR, EUHOL, and DENGE recorded the most significant losses by the end of the day. The stocks with the highest trading volumes were THYAO, ISCTR, and YKBNK.
In the domestic currency market, USD/TRY saw a slight increase of 0.1% to 34.29, EUR/TRY traded slightly lower at 36.98, and gold per gram dropped by 1% to 2,995 TRY.
In international markets, European indices exhibited mixed movements towards closing. U.S. markets started the day with a selling trend. In Asia, Chinese indices closed on a positive note, while Japan's Nikkei continued to decline.
