Majority of Germans Demand Early General Elections - DPA

According to the latest public opinion poll conducted by ARD-DeutschlandTREND, the majority of German voters are losing patience with the country's three-party coalition government. 54% of respondents want an early general election.

Only 41% want the coalition composed of Chancellor Olaf Scholz's center-left Social Democrats (SPD), the Greens, and the liberal Free Democrats (FDP) to continue until the scheduled election date of September 28, 2025.

Support for early elections is prominent among 93% of supporters of the far-right Alternative for Germany (AfD) and 75% of supporters of the left-populist Sahra Wagenknecht Alliance (BSW). Among the mainstream opposition, the conservative bloc of the Christian Democrats and the Christian Social Union (CDU/CSU) supports early elections by 69%.

The survey conducted by Infratest dimap among 1,333 voters indicates that overall satisfaction with the federal government is declining. Only 14% are very satisfied or satisfied with the government's performance, which is five percentage points lower compared to early October. In contrast, those who are less satisfied or not satisfied at all have increased by six points, reaching 85%.
