Macau's Gambling Revenue Reaches Record High in October
Forex - Gambling revenues in China's Macau Special Administrative Region continued to rise annually in October, reaching the highest level of the year. According to the Macau Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau (DICJ), gambling revenues in October increased by 6.6% year-on-year, amounting to 20.79 billion patacas (MOP). Revenues in the same month last year were 19.5 billion MOP.
In the first ten months of the year, revenues reached 190.1 billion MOP, an increase of 28.1%. Macau is regarded as one of the world's largest gambling centers alongside Las Vegas in the United States. Macau is the largest casino market in the world in terms of revenue.
Until December 20, 1999, Macau was a Portuguese colony, and since that date, it has been a Special Administrative Region of the People's Republic of China.
