Boeing Raises Wage Offer to End Seven-Week Strike

Foreks - Striking Boeing workers are preparing to vote on the aerospace giant's new proposal, which includes a 38% wage increase over the next four years. The International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM), which represents over 30,000 striking workers, has approved the proposal and announced a vote among its members on Monday.
The strike began on September 13, leading to a dramatic slowdown in production and deepening the crisis at the company. The union had previously demanded a 40% wage increase and rejected the previous two proposals, including the most recent one of 35%.
In addition to the proposed wage increase, the agreement would include a bonus of $12,000 for workers, up from the previous offer of $7,000, if a deal is reached.
In an IAM social media post, it was stated, "It’s time to secure these wins for our members and confidently declare victory. We believe it's not right to ask our members to remain on strike any longer given the significant success we have achieved."
Boeing indicated that the proposal would raise the average annual pay for workers to $119,309 over the next four years. The company added, "We encourage all our employees to learn more about the improved offer and to vote on Monday, November 4." The new proposal also includes changes to workers' retirement plans.
