Foreign Residents Make Stock Purchases

Foreign residents made a net purchase of $138.6 million in equities during the week of November 15, after adjusting for market price and exchange rate movements. According to data released by the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey (CBRT), net purchases of government bonds (repo) during the same week amounted to $1 billion 627.3 million. Foreign residents’ net sales of government bonds (reverse repo) totaled $11.7 million, while net purchases of government bonds (collateral) reached $328.7 million. There were no transactions in government bonds (lending), while net purchases of corporate bonds amounted to $9.7 million.

  • Stocks... The market value of equity stocks held by foreign residents stood at $32 billion 141.2 million. The stock of government bonds (repo) was $17 billion 837.2 million, government bonds (reverse repo) stock was $2 billion 104.6 million, and government bonds (collateral) stock was $7 billion 536.0 million. Exports from sectors outside general administration were reported at $389.0 million.
