The BIST 100 index experienced a seller-weighted movement today.

After starting the day positively, the BIST 100 faced selling pressures from the 9,440 level throughout the day, ultimately recording a decline. The index fell to a low of 9,171 points today but partially recovered towards the 9,250 point band in the last hour, reflecting a decrease of about 1.5%. At the end of the day on Borsa Istanbul, it was observed that all sectors except for real estate and communication were in negative territory. The sectors that declined the most today were transportation, food, and construction. The downward trend in the BIST coincided with the renewed increase in geopolitical tensions in global markets.

In response, Russian President Vladimir Putin approved a doctrine that includes a nuclear response in case of ballistic missile attacks against his country. Amid increasing tensions, risk appetite decreased, and there was a heightened interest in safe-haven assets.
