Aksigorta Releases Its Third Sustainability Report

Foreks - Aksigorta, which made significant strides in sustainability and innovation over the past year and consolidated its achievements, has published its third Sustainability Report. This report, prepared with an integrated thinking model, emphasizes that Aksigorta aims to create value not only today but also for tomorrow, advancing with the motto of "protecting what is valuable" in line with its net-zero target for 2050.

Acting with a completely different understanding of insurance and the aim of protecting what is valuable, Aksigorta shared its efforts in this direction through its third Sustainability Report. The report, prepared in accordance with the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) standards, covers activities from January 1 to December 31, 2023.

The report includes the management approach and targets related to the social, economic, and environmental impacts arising from corporate activities, as well as the performance results obtained and Aksigorta's contributions to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The share of sustainable products and services increased in 2023 Offering a new generation of insurance understanding with sustainability-focused approaches, Aksigorta provided 44 different products and services connected to the SDGs in 2023. Burak Yüzgül, Deputy General Manager of Human Resources and Sustainability at Aksigorta, reported that the share of sustainable products and services in total revenues increased from 19% in 2022 to 21% in 2023. He stated: “Our total greenhouse gas emissions amounted to 64,031 tons CO2e, with 574 tons from Scope 1, 61 tons from Scope 2, and 63,396 tons from Scope 3. We set targets to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in our own operations. In this context, we mentioned that we aim to reduce our Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 53% by 2030 compared to the 2019 baseline year and to achieve net zero by 2050. Additionally, we have started to prepare action plans to reduce Scope 3 emissions arising from our investment portfolio. We also plan to make a commitment to the Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTi) within 2024.”

The proportion of female employees exceeded 50% In its efforts towards gender equality, Aksigorta has surpassed its target of having 25% female members on the Board of Directors. Yüzgül expressed pride in reaching a 54% rate of female employees and highlighted that the proportion of female managers has risen to 37%, continuing to support women in leadership roles.

“We have increased the average training hours per employee by 23% compared to the previous year. With the goal of creating a happier, more productive, and satisfying Aksigorta, we established the Culture Action Team (KAT) composed of our volunteer employees. Through KAT, we aim to continuously improve working conditions and enhance employee satisfaction at work,” Yüzgül noted, emphasizing that employee engagement scores were measured at 78% and employee satisfaction scores at 87% in 2023.
