Headline: Euro Exchange Rate for Pharmaceutical Pricing Raised by 23.5%

The euro rate used for drug pricing has been increased by 23.5%. A decision, prepared by the Presidency regarding amendments to the "Pricing of Human Medicinal Products," has been published in the Official Gazette. Accordingly, the value of 1 euro in Turkish Lira, used for the pricing of human medicinal products, is increased by 23.5% in October 2024, setting the new periodic euro value at 21.6721 TL.

For the retail price determination of products, excluding some medicines, the distributor and pharmacist profit margins will be applied as follows: for the portion up to 328 TL (including 328 TL), the distributor margin is 8% and the pharmacist margin is 28%; for the portion between 328 TL and 657 TL (including 657 TL), the distributor margin is 6% and the pharmacist margin is 18%; for the portion exceeding 657 TL, the distributor margin is 3% and the pharmacist margin is 13%.

The threshold values have been updated at the change rate of the euro value, setting them at 74.72 TL for price-protected products and 39.05 TL for other products. The value of 1 euro used in pricing human medicinal products, calculated based on the new euro value, will continue to apply for 2025. The decision will take effect as of tomorrow.
