Search Conducted at Netflix's Centers in Paris and Amsterdam
According to reports, French and Dutch officials conducted searches today at Netflix's headquarters in Paris and Amsterdam. Based on information from French judicial sources, the raids were part of a preliminary investigation opened in November 2022 for "aggravated tax evasion laundering" and "covert operations in an organized gang." The search in Paris was carried out by the national agency dealing with corruption and tax offenses (OCLCIFF), accompanied by members of the national prosecution. According to the same judicial source, Dutch magistrates also searched Netflix's Amsterdam headquarters alongside French magistrates and inspectors. The operations were coordinated through the European Union's judicial cooperation unit, Eurojust. According to information published by La Lettre in 2023, Netflix came under the scrutiny of French magistrates due to a tax optimization practice of declaring its sales in the Netherlands. Bercy initiated a tax audit covering the period from 2019 to 2021.
