The U.S. Department of Justice reported that a Turkish citizen was arrested under suspicion of conspiring to violate sanctions related to Venezuelan oil trading for the benefit of the country's state energy company. According to Bloomberg News, U.S. officials arrested 37-year-old Taşkın Torlak in Miami on November 2 while he was attempting to fly to Turkey. U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia, Matthew Graves, stated that Torlak "conspired to sell Venezuelan oil illegally and used deceit to conceal that the oil came from Venezuela." Torlak is charged with conspiracy to violate the International Emergency Economic Powers Act.
