TURKSTAT Reports: Trade Sales Volume Sees Largest Increase in 14 Months

The Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK) has shared the Trade Sales Volume Index report for the period of September 2024 with the public. According to the report, the trade sales volume increased by 12.7% compared to the same month of the previous year.

Particularly, the sales volume in the wholesale and retail trade and repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles rose by 3.3%, while the wholesale trade sales volume increased by 13% and the retail trade sales volume saw a noteworthy rise of 15.9%. The published data reflects the vibrancy and growth potential of the Turkish economy in the trade sector, while also highlighting a significant momentum in the retail sector. The 15.9% increase in retail trade volume indicates that consumer demand and purchasing power have remained strong throughout the year.

The report also states that the trade sales volume increased by 3.2% in September 2024 compared to the previous month. During this period, the wholesale and retail trade and repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles recorded a rise of 0.7%. The wholesale trade sales volume increased by 4.1%, while the retail trade sales volume rose by 2.3%.

These monthly increases indicate sustainable growth in the trade sector, with the 4.1% rise in wholesale trade reflecting the dynamics of sales on a business basis. The 2.3% monthly increase in the retail sector reflects the stability in consumer shopping trends.
